Living Roofs Blog

Green roofs are no longer the preserve of the sandal brigade and environmental education centres.  Amid concerns regarding climate change adaptation and
our ability to achieve sustainable development, we are focussing on pursuing solutions that present real economic, environmental and social benefits.

LIVING ROOFS AOTEAROA

January 27, 2014

The last year or two has been an exciting time for Living Roofs; with the inclusion of living roofs in both the draft Auckland City Centre Masterplan and draft Christchurch Central City Plan. We have also had the privilege of presenting at a number of events including; the Green Living Show, Green Drinks Auckland, Sustainable Auckland, Energy and Us in Wellington, the International Plant Propagation Society conference in Cromwell, and at the Tauranga Art and Garden Fesitival.  These events provide us with the opportunity to promote and share the knowledge of living roof benefits and to network like crazy. We have also been mentioned in the New Zealand Herald and worked with Auckland University Architecture students who are visioning our Auckland Museum with a living roof!

We even got dirty on some toilets - helping install the living roofs on the Kingsland and Urquharts Bay toilets.
